USA Business visas
EB-5, E-1, E-2, L-1, Green Cards

Business visas for the USA fall into the following categories - EB-5, E-1, E-2, L-1 and Green Cards. In 1990, the United States government created an immigration program designed to attract people who want to invest in America in return for residency (INA 203(b)(5), 8 USC 1153(b)(5), CFR 204.6). This law awards a permanent resident visa to the immigrant investor and each member of his or her immediate family as well as the opportunity to reap the rewards of their business investment. In other words, investors and their families can "become Americans" while receiving profits from their investment.

More than 10,000 investor visas are available on a yearly basis from the U.S. Government Immigration and Naturalization Service. Each year more than half of these visas goes unclaimed.

There are several types of investment visas available, briefly they are:
  • Investment Green Card Program (EB-5 Visa and Green Card) You invest $500,000 or $1 Million in a business that creates 10 full time jobs, or you import goods or services in excess of $1M per year from the U.S.
  • Active Exporter/Importer Program (E-1 Visa) If your country has a Treaty of Trade and Commerce with the U.S., you can live in the U.S. and engage in substantial import or export between the U.S. and your country.
  • Treaty Investor Program (E-2 Visa) If you invest in the U.S. and are from a country that has a Treaty Investor Agreement with the U.S., you can live and work in America on an indefinitely renewable E-2 Treaty Investor Visa.
  • Business Management Green-Card Program (L-1 Visa and Green Card) You establish a U.S. affiliate of your foreign company and this affiliate requests you to come to the U.S. as its manager.
